something I've always been curious about

Something I have always been curious about has been how people managed to come up with many different foods around the world. Given the different circumstances that people might have lived on and how they crossed food and animals, it makes me curious what they were thinking the moment they came up with the ideas to mix different foods to make another one. Even with the animals at the moment how they came up with the idea to add seasoning to the food just makes me curious.

My most special holiday memory

My family really doesn't celebrate any festivity throughout the year so I don't have any specific holiday memories, but we do spend time together as a family and play games, or watch movies all day. Today we did the Discussion questions for chapters 8-10 of "A Lesson Before Dying". I think these questions can help us understand and merge ourselves and help us get a better understanding of the story as we read through it.

The best gift I have received

The best gift I have received was the one I received on my 15th birthday in Mexico, my friends had arranged a small party because they did not know it was my birthday at that time. They bought me two small chocolate cupcakes and placed two small candles on top of each one. They gave me a small basket of candies as a last minute gift. Even though I don't celebrate my birthday, once they found out it was mine they did it the same day after school, it made me happy that they went through the trouble to celebrate even though it wasn't a lot of people, so I still remember it till this day. Today we did the discussion questions for chapters 6-7 of "A Lesson Before Dying". I think these questions help us analyze the story in a deeper way so we can help us understand the small events so we can understand the story better.

Something I believed as a child.

One thing that I believed in as a child was ghosts, I believed that ghosts existed and was often scared when I heard noises in the night. My mom would often reassure me that they did not exist and would help me fall asleep when I couldn't.  Today we did the bench mark on American Lit. I could use this knowledge to do better in the future and get better grades.

A time I couldn't stop laughing.

One time I couldn't stop laughing because I had scared my younger siblings, It was dark at night and I had hid myself to scare them while they walked into the room. I scared them to the point that they ran to my mom yelling and almost crying, i couldn't stop laughing and my mom scolded me at the end. Today we went to the auditorium to do an activity about looking for colleges. I can learn from these experiences to try and look for a college that can be suitable for my circumstances in the future.

A fear I have overcome

One of my first fears that I have overcome was the fear of riding a bicycle, I was young and it wasn't even my own bicycle, it was my neighbor's spider man bike, I sent the whole afternoon learning how to ride the bike and eventually got the hang of it and at the end of the day the neighbor even gifted us their bike. Today we started on a presentation of the book "A lesson before dying" on Adobe express. Making a presentation on the book can help me learn how to analyze information after reading and help me how to manage different apps.

An unforgettable meal

One unforgettable meal that I had in my life was when I had a meal with all my family on the side of my dads family back in Mexico, it was all my uncles and cousins, I even invited some of my friends. The reason for the meal was the birthday of my grandfather, it was a very memorable meal. Today we did the summary questions for the chapter 5 of "A lesson before dying". These questions make me realize how people may suffer internally due to different circumstances and might not tell others about it.

Something I can't stop thinking about

One thing that I can't stop thinking about is my life back in Mexico, I think about it every day. My life with my friends and family, not having to take a bus every day for school, the different environment and different surroundings. Even tho I can't go back now, I always think about how my life used to be and how I would be today. Today we read over chapter 2 and 3 of the book "A lesson before dying" and did some discussion questions about the chapters. Learning about the decisions that lead up to the problems and how it escalated after that, made me think of how i should react to the situations that i might encounter and think how they might affect my future.

One time I was judged unfairly

One time that I was judged unfairly was when I was in middle school back in Mexico, my older sister used to not get along with some teachers back then and they thought that because she was my sister I had the same temper as her or similar to her. I realized then how easy people tend to judge just because of your family. Today we read chapter one of the book "A lesson before dying", and did some annotations about the chapter. The first chapter of the book made me realize how colored people were treated and thought of just because of their skin color, and how nowadays we can still find that in some places.

A conversation that changed me

One conversation that changed me was on that I had with an elderly person, in which they told me about their life and how they regret some of the decisions that they made  when they were younger. It changed me because they told me how in the past they would go over and over the decision day after day, but now they just keep it as a memory, an example of how not to react if they would encounter a similar occasion. It made me realize that every decision we make throughout our lives make us who we are, and we can not change the decisions that we already made, but we can learn from them to help us be a better person. Today we did a vocabulary page and sentences of the words we researched. Today I learned the definition of new words that I kind of knew, I think this can help me improve my vocabulary and make it sound more mature.
